Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for the Argon Vials website is All Purpose Enterprises Ltd (Company No. 17300788), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
What we collect
When you place an order we collect the information required to fulfil and deliver it: your name, email address, and shipping address. We also retain a record of the items ordered and the order reference. We do not collect or store your payment card details — payments are handled by our payment provider.
If you contact us through the site, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message so we can respond. If you subscribe to our email list, or enter your email at checkout and do not complete the order, we retain your email address so we can send you the updates you asked for or a single reminder about your cart — you can opt out of these at any time.
We also collect limited technical and analytics information when you use the site: the pages you view and basic actions you take (such as adding an item to your cart or starting checkout), an anonymous session identifier, and a one-way irreversible hash of your IP address. We store this hash — never your raw IP address — to protect against abuse and to understand how the site is used. This first-party analytics information is not linked to your name and is not shared with third-party advertising networks.
How your information is protected
Personal information that identifies you — your name, email, shipping address, and the content of contact messages — is encrypted at the application layer using AES-256-GCM before it is written to our database. This means it is stored as ciphertext, not plain text, as a core part of how the service is built. Where we need to look up records without decrypting them (for example, to recognise a returning subscriber), we use a one-way keyed hash of the email address rather than the plaintext.
How we use your information
- To process, fulfil, and deliver your order.
- To send transactional messages about your order, such as confirmation and dispatch notifications.
- To respond to research support enquiries you send us.
- To meet our legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We only send marketing or product-update emails where you have explicitly opted in, and you can unsubscribe from those at any time.
Sharing with third parties
We share personal information only as necessary to operate the service. Our service providers (processors) include our payment provider (to process your transaction), the carrier that delivers your order, our email provider Resend (which sends order confirmations, support replies, and, where you have opted in, marketing emails), and our hosting and database provider (which stores your encrypted records). Some of these providers may process data outside Australia, including in the United States and the United Kingdom. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with advertisers.
Data retention
We retain order and customer records for as long as necessary to fulfil the order and to meet our legal and tax obligations (generally up to seven years), after which they may be deleted or de-identified. You can request earlier deletion of your information where we are not legally required to retain it.
Your rights
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate.
- Request deletion of your information where we are not legally required to keep it.
- Withdraw consent to any marketing communications at any time.
Argon Vials handles personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). As our data controller is established in the United Kingdom, where UK data protection law applies to your information you also have the rights available under the UK GDPR, including rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the site footer.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of first-party cookies. An anonymous session cookie ("argon_sid") is used for our own first-party analytics — it groups a visit's activity together so we can measure how the site is used, and it is not linked to your identity. If you arrive through a referral or affiliate link, a cookie recording that referral code ("argon_ref") is stored for up to 30 days so the referral can be credited. We also use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function, such as signing in to restricted areas. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the strictly necessary cookies are required for parts of the site to work. Our analytics is first-party only and does not track you across other websites. Where required by law, we will seek your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
